” Over the past year, I have fallen in love with the look of film photography and late last year I purchased my first film camera; a previously loved Nikon F100. After a long and very snowy winter, (and feeling a bit shut in), I was inspired to create a winter woodland session on all film. Luckily, we’ve had all the snow and winter wonderland we could ever want this year here in the Midwest.
This shoot was coordinated with a fellow photographer friend of mine and we waited for weeks for the cold of the “Polar Vortex” to subside. We finally caught a balmy 25 degree day in early February. Armed with my new camera, a light meter, and 3 rolls of film, I set out to practice my skills with film. We shot this session together midday to sunset in early February at Sand Ridge State Forest in Illinois. It is the largest state forest in Illinois and it offered plenty of snow covered pine trees to create what our beautiful model and local high school senior, Natalie, referred to as “looking like Christmas”. ” – Stacy
