I’ll never forget my incredible weekend learning floral design from two amazing people that hold a special place in my heart. Amanda and Ivanka of Studio Mondine were so gracious to accommodate a floral design boot camp with me in the midst of wedding season, and I’m so grateful they did! Leading up to the two day workshop I was able to share floral ingredients and a color palette that I was excited to work with, selecting feminine shades of pink, blush, and peach. Upon walking into their studio I was greeted by buckets filled with beautiful blooms and branches just waiting to be played with. As intimidated as I was to start learning from two artists who are incredibly talented and among the best in their craft, Amanda and Ivanka made it easy to relax after getting to know each other and sharing a general outline of how the two days would go.

Everything about that weekend was a dream. Not only was I able to get hands-on experience in creating floral pieces and arrangements, but I also learned elements of floral design as a business. Amanda and Ivanka were the kindest, most down to earth, and most patient people to learn from – their aesthetic and work is nothing less than inspiring. They were so generous in sharing their knowledge in letting flowers guide an arrangement and allowing them to naturally do what they want. They shared their philosophy to embrace each ingredient for their strengths and also their belief to give each ingredient room to breathe amongst each other; talking about flowers and ingredients as if they were people became fun and, for me, even therapeutic! My personal highlight was when I constructed my very first bridal bouquet. Ivanka does remarkable work with bouquets, and having her guidance was priceless. I’ll always remember the overwhelming feeling of inner peace I felt constructing my bouquet; it was a sense of happiness that I had hoped I’d feel upon finding what I loved.

The boot camp came to a perfect end with a styled of all my creations. It was shot by the sweetest human being and talented photographer, Taralynn Lawton, and featured the floral pieces I had arranged. That weekend, I undoubtedly felt and created happiness. ” – April
