Sarah Hannam | Silver Coast in Portugal | Sarahhannamblog.com
” I spent a few weeks on the Silver Coast in Portugal last summer, which is largely unknown as a major tourist destination. Just over an hour west of Lisbon, it’s the real Portugal – orchards full of apple and pear-laden trees, painted houses, cobbled streets and wonderful parks. The warmer, southern European countries do town parks very well. They possess this calmness and amidst the dappled sunlight exists a relief from the heat of the day, a wonderful place to stroll alone, away from the traffic and collect your thoughts.
I loved to escape the house for a few hours by myself with my camera and explore the medieval village of Obidos that sits high on a hill and the nearby town of Caldas da Rainha. The colours there are so uplifting; cobalt blues, yellows, pinks and around every corner lies something bathed in an extraordinary light that just begs to be photographed. ” – Sarah

Wow Sarah, these are gorgeous. I’m feeling a bit smug that I haven’t been to Portugal as yet and on my first visit, I may have to venture here now!! Lovely work.
Thanks so much Caroline – I just saw your comment! Portugal is really beautiful, so definitely worth a trip.
