” Filip and Luca, the two baby twins featured in this session, were born very prematurely. In Belgium, the youngest age a baby can be born at and still taken care of is 24 weeks. They were born almost at the limit: at 25 weeks. Immediately after birth, they were thoroughly taken care of by the Belgian medical health system. During 2 months Filip and Luca remained at the hospital – these were extremely difficult and stressful times for their parents Mirela and Octavian. Luckily Mirela’s and Octavian’s hope and professionalism of the doctors resulted in a miracle and the babies were authorized to return home as their state stabilized.

Mirela asked me for a family session back in December. We decided to create something cosy and bright – white and pastel bed linen, minimalistic white outfits for the baby boys to bring out their soft skin tones and a luminous bedroom with a big window as a setting.

While it was still cold and gloomy outside, it was bright and warm inside, in this little apartment located in the western part of Brussels where we did the shooting. I spent an amazing day together with Mirela’s family – laughing, trying to make Filip and Luca look in the same direction and eating lunch together with Mirela and Octavian as the babies quickly immersed into sleep after an eventful morning. ” – Anna
