“I had a less-than-idyllic childhood and grew up never wanting children out of fear they would go through what I did. But then I met my husband. One of the first things he (a very self-assured twenty-year-old) told me (a very sheltered seventeen-year-old) was that he’d always known he wanted kids. To my surprise, I soon wanted the same thing. Being with him allowed me to dream of a different story for my future children, and for myself.

Fast forward seventeen years and we now have two daughters. I didn’t get maternity photos done during my first pregnancy because I felt self-conscious, but this time around I realized these wouldn’t just be photos of me. These would be family portraits. I look at these photos and can’t believe I have the family I didn’t know I always wanted.” – Patricia (the mom)

” Patricia and Greg have the sweetest little girl, Ruby, who’s spirit is as wild as her hair. For their maternity and family photos, Erin, our stylist and I wanted to keep the shoot very low key and natural. We knew that Ruby would enjoy the outdoors and being able to run free. We chose to do the shoot in the early morning in an open field, the dew from the grass created a story-like atmosphere. It was magical watching their family play and laugh, it was the kind of shoot every photographer hopes for where natural moments unfold and I was able to capture them quietly as an observer, admiring the playfulness and love of their family. ” – Heidi
