“ After spending a week of vacation in Saugatuck on the shore of Lake Michigan I was feeling inspired by lake shore living. A coffee table book at our cottage in particular was really making me dream too. The book “Seaside Cottages” depicted a lifestyle by the sea that was slow, charming, full of teals blues and sunny days. Summer on lake Michigan is very much like a summer on the eastern seaboard. Sandy walks on the beach, shell and driftwood collecting, and plenty of wonderful sunsets over deep waters. I wanted to create a shoot with that charming seaside vibe so I reached out a Rachel Moger at Sincerely Ginger Events I told her a bit about my vision. She was excited about the idea and had some great collaborative ideas and so many resources to offer in the Traverse City area. We ended up picking Leland as our spot because it is a sleepy seaside town full of all the charm you might find in Nantucket. Docked boats, plank siding, and all the trappings of a fishing village. Perfect for my vision. I also told Rachel that I wanted to produce a shoot that was easy and fun. “Easy Breezy” was our motto all the way; we didn’t want to get carried away over styling or over investing our time. I picked out a dress on Shop Gossamer and swung by Seradella Vintage rentals to pick out a few fun things and Rachel found our models and did an amazing job styling and create the floral bouquet. The evening was beautiful and we had a nice seaside breeze which really played well into our wind friendly wardrobe coastal theme. ” – Blaine
