Over the last few months I’ve set out to create different styled shoots that capture different spins on the traditional bridal portraits. Not every bride fits into the same category, so I love that this series speaks to a less traditional bride and a more free-spirit, bohemian bride. I wanted to show how unique a bride’s wedding day can be and how her photos should be catered to her.

For this shoot, I was not only the photographer, but also the stylist. I partnered with a local furniture & decor rental shop and created a beautiful bohemian set up. I paired a clean and neutral-colored teepee with vibrant pops of color in the lush pillows, to create a whimsical and luxurious resting place for the bride. Scattered about are finger foods, antique books, and a vintage globe in order to provide the bride with plenty to occupy herself while she is relaxing.

The bohemian colors are juxtaposed with elegant lace–appearing in both the bride’s dress and in certain elements in the decor, such as draped over the teepee and laid over the rug she sits on. The lace and vibrant colors work together to create a feminine yet earthy feel for this shoot.

The bride also carries a simple, yet eye-catching assortment of floral arrangements. I wanted her flowers to feel both effortless and organic. They mirror her simple and beautiful floral crown perfectly.

The bride’s gorgeous Free People dress was a perfect choice for this shoot. It’s understated beauty paired with pops of color in the bride’s jewelery compliments the bride’s effortless and earthy style. I had the bride go barefoot, with her kicked off boots shown on the side, to capture her need to connect with the earth.

The colors, decor, lace, and dress all work perfectly together to create a feminine and whimsical bohemian bridal shoot. ” – Callie
